Terms of Use vD

(version D)

Several legal issues are introduced in this website concerning :

1.the material presented by the site's administration, which can be separated into:

1.1.reference to sections or parts of published & copyrighted books,

1.2.reference to sections or parts of published and copyrighted academic research papers,

1.3.reference to copyrighted software,

1.4.demonstration of the contents (of) and downloadable links to copyrighted electronic pdf files.

2.the material added by registered users which can also be separated into:

2.1.reference to sections or parts of published & copyrighted books,

2.2.reference to sections or parts of published and copyrighted academic research papers,

2.3.reference to copyrighted software,

2.4.demonstration of the contents (of) and downloadable links to copyrighted electronic pdf files.

3.the use of all the above as a service provided by the site.

Dealing with each one of these issues the site's administration makes the following statements:

4.Material mentioned in 1.1. & 1.2. is referenced in terms of author and publishing agent so that all users of this site can gain legal access to it. Referenced section or part is NOT offered for copying or reproduction as a text or image object, or as a link for downloading in any way at all. An exception has been made in the 'Book Review' section of this site where small images of cover & contents pages are presented for preview purposes only. These pages are copyrighted material but their demonstration here promotes the author's and publisher's interests without affecting their property.
5.In a similar manner user-added material, mentioned in 2.1. & 2.2., should be referenced in terms of author and publishing agent so that all users of this site can gain legal access to it. Referenced section or part should NOT be offered for copying or reproduction as a text or image object, or as a link for downloading in any way at all. An exception could be made in the 'Book Review' section of this site where small images of cover & contents pages could be presented by users for preview purposes only. These pages are copyrighted material but their demonstration here promotes the author's and publisher's interests without affecting their property.

6.Software mentioned in 1.3. is referenced in terms of owner and trading agent (if any) so that all users of this site can gain legal access to it. No link is offered for unauthorized downloading in any way at all.

7.In a similar manner software referenced in user-submitted articles (mentioned in 2.3.) should be referenced in terms of owner and trading agent (if any) so that all users of this site can gain legal access to it. No link should be offered for unauthorized downloading in any way at all.

8.Opinions expressed in this site's published articles (either provided by site's administration or user-submitted) concerning referenced material described in sections 1. & 2., should by no means be offensive for material authors or owners.

9.Consequently site administration encourages users to contribute articles on which a 3-phase procedure is applied:

9.1.Registered Users submit their articles.

9.2.Users authorized by site's administration, called Editors, having proper permissions for article approval, process user-submitted articles and make sure that:

9.2.1.Copyrighted material is treated as stated in sections 5 and 7.

9.2.2.Opinions expressed do not violate the ethics described in section 8.

It is ONLY these two reasons for which Editors are entitled to EDIT user-submitted articles and then proceed to final approval or REJECTION of these articles.

9.3.Site's administration is then responsible of 'publishing' i.e. permanently displaying in this website all approved articles submitted by registered users.

10.Should a user-submitted article contain information NOT properly associated with its ORIGINAL author/owner, it is obviously impossible for the procedure described in 9 (and thence for the people engaged) to get aware of the problem and take actions to correct it. Even so no copyright violation is expected to take place.

11.Site administration makes any possible effort to ensure that all technical information presented is accurate AND clearly described so that its use has certain positive effects in the field of high fidelity speaker system design, construction and evaluation. As such it can not and should not be related to financial loss, health damage or loss of life. Risk directly or indirectly related to any of these three negative impacts SHOULD not be undertaken by this site's users, registered or not.

12.In a similar manner construction instructions presented in this site assume SAFE use of any tooling or machinery involved against health damage of any sort or degree.

13.It is widely known that high fidelity speaker systems do not operate on the mains voltage, do not contain unhealthy chemicals, do not relate to significant i.e. dangerous mechanical forces and stresses. However there are always people whose skin may be irritated by some sorts of plywood, who could cut a finger with a jigsaw, lose money by burning wrongly connected electronic components or even have their ears permanently damaged by accidentally supplying a large signal to a loudspeaker driver during a test.

14.Users, registered or not, who wish NOT to take full responsibility of any risk related to what is mentioned in sections 11,12 & 13, are welcome to access any sort of material reported in this site AND kindly asked to ABSTAIN of this material's USE as a measure of their decision. Therefore the USE of this site used as a service mentioned in section 3, can not be held responsible for any sort of financial loss, health damage or loss of life.

15.Material described in 1.4 & 2.4 is actually a collection of promotional specification datasheets of loudspeaker drivers and other electronic components related to the design and construction of speaker systems on a DIY basis. It is a common practice that these datasheets (in pdf format) be originally released by manufacturers for free distribution.

In this website we may advertise component manufacturers or retailers but we do not sell any of their products. Ethical reasons bound us to promote equally all component manufacturers so that our member DIYers have unobstructed access to all technical information available.

justice

16.However we respect the no-edit obligation of all technical information presented in these copyrighted datasheets (section 1.4). In that sense our members submitting their own electronic datasheet files (section 2.4) take full responsibility for not changing/editing the original copyrighted document and the associated technical information. If such a submitted document is proved to be inaccurate the administration of this site will delete it immediately and inform our members accordingly.
